Saadio Diallo lives and works in Dakar. He started his career as a mural painter. Until today he takes the inspirations for his pictures from paintings and graphics on Dakar’s walls:
His latest paintings refer to the 2011-2012 protest movement in Senegal that led to a new government with Macky Sall as President and the prominent Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour as Minister of Culture.
Saadios portrait of a young protester and member of the Senegalese “Y’en a marre” ( (“I am fed up”) – movement: one of the leading groups in the protests against the Senegalese goverment under former President Abdoulaye Wade.
What motivates Saadio to paint the young protesters?
